The city of Las Vegas is the most populous city in Nevada as well as the core of Nevada's Clark County. The city of Las Vegas is a globally prominent significant destination city recognized principally for shopping, fine dining and gambling and is the leading cultural and financial hub for Nevada's south. The city of Las Vegas considers itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and it is well-known for the consolidated casino-hotels and associated entertainment. An escalating retirement living and family city, it is the 30th most populous city in America, with a populace of about 500,000 people. The 2013 metro Las Vegas population was approximately 2,100,000. Las Vegas is one of the top three primary destinations in the U.S. for meetings and business. Las Vegas is one of the primary tourist destinations across the world.
Las Vegas was established in 1906 and was incorporated as a city in 1910. At the end of the twentieth century, Las Vegas had become the most populous American city formed within that same century (an honor held by Chicago in the prior century). The city's tolerance for a variety of kinds of mature pleasures gained it the name of Sin City. This perception has made the city a favorite setting for television programs and films. You will find countless lighting exhibits on Fremont St., as well as in other places in the city.
